HOLLYWOOD GOES PORN AND HIRSCH EXPLAINS WHY – HuffingtonPostLive took note of the numerous Hollywood movies, TV shows, music videos and other offerings that use porn as their key subject. The daily video show noted that “from ‘Boogie Nights’ to the new biopic ‘Lovelace,’ Hollywood loves a good skin flick. But how accurate are these depictions? HuffPost Live asks the experts...” among them Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch. Explaining the history of mainstream fascination with porn, Steven said, “It really started with VHS when you were able to go into an adult video store and easily pick up a movie. Prior to that it was uncomfortable to do so. The ease in obtaining video really changed everything and made porn accessible to couples who were interested in watching adult movies, then TV and now the internet 24/7 provide all the porn you could ever want.”  He also noted that “Jenna Jameson and her “How to Make Love Like a Pornstar” book had a huge impact on mainstream opinions about porn and porn stars.”

SEX TRACKER SURVEY: GUYS LOVE WATCHING MILF PORN – The Seventh Vivid Sex Tracker Survey of people’s porn viewing preferences shows a strong preference for MILF movies, with 85.2 percent of respondents to the latest poll saying they enjoy this genre and 37.4 percent saying they “love MILF porn.”  Just 8.2 percent said they “seen some and it’s not my thing” and 2.2 percent said they would “never watch it.”  The entire survey is available at:  The Seventh Sex Tracker Survey also asked a number of questions about Measure B, a new law passed by Los Angeles voters in November that requires adult film performers to wear condoms and other protective gear when making movies in L.A. County. A total of 92.4 percent said they do not think voters realized they were requiring performers to use dental dams, gloves, goggles and lab coats. And 80.7 percent said voters did not get the message that “rigorous and frequent testing of performers kept them safer than condoms,” while 91.9 percent said they would not “purchase an adult movie with the performers wearing hazmat gear.”

ADULT INDUSTRY CHALLENGES MEASURE B – Under the auspices of Free Speech Coalition, lawyers for the adult entertainment industry have filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California challenging Measure B. As the lead studio plaintiff in the suit, Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch has been the go-to guy for the media to explain the suit and why the industry wants to overturn a law that makes it mandatory for adult actors to wear condoms while shooting adult films in LA County. He’s been on NPR and has been interviewed by numerous news sites. Vivid, along with performers Kayden Kross and Logan Pierce, claim in their suit that Measure B is unnecessary because of rigorous and effective self-regulation by the adult industry and that it imposes an unconstitutional system of prior restraint in violation of the First Amendment.  Numerous provisions of Measure B are excessively vague and burdensome, and thus place an intolerable restriction on freedom of expression.  The lawsuit also challenges the County’s jurisdiction to regulate adult production on performer health and safety. Said Steven in a statement: “Overturning this law is something I feel very passionate about.  I believe the industry’s current testing system works well. Since 2004 over 300,000 explicit scenes have been filmed with zero HIV transmission.  The new law makes no sense and it imposes a government licensing regime on making films that are protected by the Constitution.  Measure B will have vast unintended consequences which may undermine industry efforts to protect the health of our actors and actresses.”
