HIRSCH MAKES HEADLINES WITH SANTORUM/SAAR COMMENTS -- Steven Hirsch made headlines this week when he said both presidential hopeful Rick Santorum and blogger/activist Malika Saada Saar are wrong in their anti-porn stands. Steven said in an article written for The Huffington Post: "I have always found it interesting that some people feel compelled to control the lives of others. These self-appointed morality police believe they are better suited than you to decide what you can watch and what you should think. They want laws passed that take away our First Amendment freedoms; we should all hope that they do not succeed." Steven rejected a call by Santorum for a ban on pornographic movies and websites because, the former senator says "obscenity" causes brain damage, ruins marriages, leads to prostitution and sex trafficking, and "contributes to misogyny and violence against women." Ms. Saar, writing in her Huffington Post blog, agreed with Santorum and said that "mainstream porn is now hard-core and celebrates the debasement of the female body." Saar said she is "disappointed by the left's summary dismissal of Santorum's proposed idea to ban porn." Said Steven: "Speaking for myself and my company Vivid Entertainment, I believe that Ms. Saar and Mr. Santorum are out of touch. Their arguments don't hold up to scrutiny. Lets look at the facts: The FBI, National Crime Victimization Survey, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other credible organizations actually report a drop in rapes, teen pregnancies and sex crimes since 1991, when porn first became widely available on the Internet. Even in the medical community prominent couples therapists frequently recommend that their patients watch adult films to help strengthen their relationships. Would this make sense if women were being degraded? Would doctors dare even consider such treatments if this were the case? Allegations of misogyny are also untrue. Women increasingly control the adult business. There are many women who own adult companies. Women decide which movies they want to perform in, what scenes they are comfortable with and who their partners will be. No woman is forced to act in an adult film; they do so of their own free will," he added, noting that two of Vivid's most popular directors "are women who have won multiple awards for their work -- Kimberly Kane and Tristan Taormino." Steven’s Huffington Post article was widely quoted in the mainstream and adult media.

TMZ SAYS OCTOMOM GETS NEW BUT LOWER PORN OFFER FROM VIVID – TMZ reported on Wednesday that Vivid has made a new offer to Nadya Suleman to make a pornographic video. The TMZ story appeared under the headline: “XXX Honcho to Octomom Your Porn Stock Is Plummeting.” The story said, “Octomom's topless photo shoot didn't completely sabotage her porn future ... but it did drastically reduce her XXX market value -- this according to a brand new porn offer from Vivid Entertainment. In case you didn't know, Vivid honcho Steve Hirsch offered Nadya Suleman $1 MILLION in 2009 to star in her own skin flick -- but Octo turned him down. Hirsch made a second offer in 2010 to help bail her out of foreclosure -- $500,000 for ONE hardcore scene -- but Octo rejected that too. Now, in the wake of Nadya's topless photo shoot, Hirsch is making one final push to lock the mother of 14 into a porn contract -- except this time ... he's not offering 7 figures ... OR half a million ... not even close. Hirsch sent Octo a letter yesterday, offering her a paltry $100,000 to appear in THREE hardcore sex scenes -- claiming, ‘Regrettably your market value has diminished.’ She might need the money, but don't count on Nadya chomping at the bit any time soon -- Octo called in to TMZ Live yesterday, and seemed pretty adamant she'd never do porn in a million billion years.”
